MediaTek and Vodafone jointly announced on September 3 that they have entered into a supply agreement, according to a press release by MediaTek. Under the agreement, Vodafone will use chipsets supplied by MediaTek for two of its new own-brand models, to be launched in the European market. These two models include the Vodafone 340 camera phone and a value-line touchscreen phones, codenamed the Vodafone 541. Vodafone's own-brand models used to employ chipsets from Infineon. Further details regarding the value of the deal, however, were not yet disclosed. Of Vodafone's eight mobile phone models to be launched for upcoming Christmas season, two models will use chipsets from MediaTek.
